The Incredibles (2004)
Starring: Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee, Wallace Shawn, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Brad Bird
Directed by: Brad Bird
I finally saw The Incredibles last night, and I don't actually have much to say about it. I could go on and on about how great a combination of action, humour, intrigue, adventure, heart-warming and heart-wrenching scenes it is, I could rave about the voice work of Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter and Jason freakin' Lee, or I could talk about Pixar's usual outstanding animation. But really, I'd just be stuffing this review in order to make it long enough to justify an LJ cut. One observation I'd like to share is that the plot of the movie reminded me of a PG version of The Dark Knight Returns. It's obvious that writer and director Brad Bird is, or at least was, a big fan of comic books. The rest of the review can be summed up as thus: go see it, go see it now. It's the best, most entertaining movie that Pixar has done yet. There's no part of this movie that I didn't enjoy. 5 out of 5 stars.
